Served in the army from 1940 until 1945.
Serebrennikov fought in the Southwestern Front (defensive actions in Stanislav – Striy – Chertkov – Gusyatin – Kiev). He was surrounded in the Kiev area. He further fought in the Dimkovsk guerilla detachment of the F. Fedorov, N. Popudrenko, and N. Zebnitskiy formations, which acted at the border between Russia, Byelorussia, and Ukraine (Bryansk Region, Novozibkov, Klintsy, and others). From the end of 1943, after connecting with the forces of the Bryansk Front, Serebrennikov fought in the 511th rifle regiment on the Leningrad Front. He was heavily wounded in a battle near Luga.
He was awarded an order of the first degree of the Patriotic War, the “Red Star”, a medal for “Partisan of the Patriotic War” of the second degree, and medals “For the defense of Leningrad”, “For the defense of Kiev” and “For Victory over Germany”.
